🌿 More Than Medicine - What Every Herb Reveals About the Heart of God

🌿 Why Did God Create Herbs?

Have you ever stopped to ask yourself...

Why did God create medicinal plants?

Was it simply so we could live a little longer?

Was His purpose merely to lower blood pressure, improve digestion, reduce inflammation, or help us sleep better?

Surely there is something far greater.

If we fail to answer that question correctly, we can easily miss the entire purpose of health itself.

🌎 Health Begins in a Garden

The Bible begins, not in a hospital...

but in a garden.

There was no disease.

No cancer.

No Alzheimer's.

No arthritis.

No depression.

No heart disease.

No death.

Everything God created was "very good."

Imagine Adam walking through Eden for the very first time.

Every flower reflected the beauty of its Creator.

Every fruit tree testified of His generosity.

Every herb spoke of His wisdom.

Nothing had been touched by sin.

Nothing had begun to decay.

There wasn't a single poisonous thought in the human mind.

There wasn't a diseased cell anywhere in creation.

That was God's original plan for mankind.

🍂 Then Sin Entered

Disease was never God's invention.

Death was never His idea.

Pain was not created by God.

When sin entered the world, everything changed.

Not only did the human heart become corrupted...

creation itself began to groan.

Every sickness...

every virus...

every tumour...

every aching joint...

every funeral...

is a reminder that something has gone terribly wrong with this world.

Yet even after man's rebellion, God did something remarkable.

He left behind thousands of living reminders that He had not abandoned His children.

He gave us medicinal plants.

Not because herbs could remove sin...

but because they reveal something about the heart of the Creator.

🌿 Every Herb Preaches a Sermon

Every medicinal plant asks the same question.

"Why would God place healing properties in a fallen world?"

I believe the answer is simple.

Because He loves us.

Every herb is a silent testimony that our Creator still cares.

Every fragrant leaf...

every healing root...

every medicinal flower...

whispers the same message:

"God has not forgotten you."

No herb can forgive sin.

No plant can change the human heart.

No supplement can give eternal life.

Only Jesus Christ can do that.

But herbs remind us that the God who heals the soul also cares about the body.

❤️ The Greatest Disease

Modern medicine spends enormous effort fighting disease.

And rightly so.

But the greatest disease in the universe has never been cancer.

It has never been diabetes.

It has never been heart disease.

The greatest disease is sin.

Every other disease is simply one of its symptoms.

That is why Jesus spent far more time healing hearts than He did healing bodies.

Many whom He healed physically eventually died.

But those whom He restored spiritually received something infinitely greater.

Eternal life.

🌱 Health Is Not the Gospel

This is where I believe many people lose their balance.

Some Christians neglect health altogether.

Others become almost obsessed with it.

Neither extreme reflects the Bible.

Health is not our Saviour.

Organic food is not our Redeemer.

Supplements are not our hope.

Herbs cannot replace the cross.

We must never love health more than we love Christ.

Nor should we spend so much time preserving life that we forget why life was given in the first place.

God never intended health to become an idol.

Health is simply one more gift that enables us to know Him better, love others more fully, and serve Him more effectively.

✨ The Body and the Mind Were Never Meant to Be Separated

The Bible never divides the physical from the spiritual the way modern culture often does.

A tired body affects the mind.

A troubled conscience affects the body.

Poor sleep clouds judgment.

Chronic stress weakens resilience.

Everything is connected.

God designed us as whole persons.

When we care wisely for our bodies, we often discover that our minds become clearer, our emotions steadier, and our capacity to serve others increases.

That should not surprise us.

The Designer understands His own creation better than anyone.

🌿 Herbs Are Wonderful Servants—but Terrible Masters

I have spent much of my life studying botanical medicine.

The more I learn...

the more amazed I become at God's wisdom.

But I have also learned something equally important.

Herbs make poor gods.

No herb should ever replace:

🥗 Wise nutrition.

😴 Rest.

🚶 Exercise.

🙏 Trust in God.

❤️ Loving relationships.

A healthy lifestyle is not about chasing the latest miracle plant.

It is about cooperating with the principles upon which the Creator designed life itself.

🌅 The Greatest Healing Is Still Future

One day...

there will be no more herbs for arthritis.

No herbs for anxiety.

No herbs for insomnia.

No herbs for inflammation.

Not because herbs have failed...

but because disease itself will be gone.

John writes:

"God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain..."

That is the Christian's ultimate hope.

Until then...

every medicinal plant points beyond itself to the Great Physician.

Every healing herb reminds us that a loving Creator has never stopped caring for His fallen children.

And every improvement in health should awaken within us not pride...

but gratitude.

Because the greatest gift God has ever given us was not found in a garden.

It was found on a cross.

The cross tells us something every herb can only whisper:

God would rather die than live without us.

When we understand that...

health finds its proper place.

Not as the centre of life...

but as one more way of glorifying the One who gave us life in the first place.
